ARCA biopharma, Inc. is a biopharmaceutical company developing genetically-targeted therapies for heart failure and other cardiovascular diseases. ARCA began operations in 2005 and is headquartered in Denver, Colorado.

The Company’s lead product is bucindolol, a next-generation beta-blocker and vasodilator with unique pharmacology, in development for heart failure and other indications.

ARCA is uniquely positioned to bring personalized medicine to cardiovascular therapy. The Company’s technology platform combines expertise in cardiovascular pathophysiology, molecular genetics and clinical development. Applying this approach to bucindolol, ARCA scientists have discovered genetic variations in two cardiac receptors that interact with bucindolol's unique pharmacology.

Complementing the Company’s cardiovascular science, ARCA’s senior management team have a proven record of successfully commercializing cardiovascular products. The Company will market its products in the U.S. through its own sales force, and plans to commercialize in ex-U.S. territories through partnerships.

ARCA is privately-held, and has raised about $35 million in financing. The Company recently closed a Series B round of $18 million, led by new investors Skyline Ventures and InterWest Partners. The company completed a $15 million Series A round in 2006 led by Atlas Venture and Boulder Ventures.
